Yesudas KJ Yesudas, or was the greatest musician of all time. I had sung over 30,000 songs in almost all Indian languages except Kadhmiri and Assam. Yesudas was born on January 10, 1940 in a musical family in Fort Cochin, Kerala, India. He was greater among five brothers. He has three brothers and one sister. His father Jose Agustin Bagavathor was also a famous classical musician and an actor.
Yesudas took his first music lessons from his father Augustine. After recognizing the musical talent of his son, Augustine decided to musical education at any cost. Yesudas learned Carnatic music at the age of 5. He later received music lessons from several other music teachers Cochin. The main aspects of his success as a singer legndary was his passion, discipline, hard work, dedication and determination towards music.
Music came as divine grace and his father”s legacy KJYesudas, one of the foremost exponents of Indian classical Carnatic vocal music and lead singer of reproduction in all Indian languages. His classical concerts and programs of film songs continue to captivate millions of listeners at home and abroad.
Yesudas he studied High School in San Sebastian, Pallurthi, Cochin. He was the top singer in his school for several years. He won first prize in Carnatic vocal singing in the youth festival of the school in 1957. Also recceived gold medal for singing voice in the whole Catholic Youth Festival in Kerala Ernakulam. After school, Yesudas attended Thrippoonithura RLVMusic Academy, where he completed the course Ganabhooshanam a double promotion and distinction in 1960. For college, Sree Swathithirunal attended Music Academy in Trivandrum. However, the course left incomplete due to financial problems.
Yesudas recorded his first song in 1961, it was a veru beautiful and meaningful verse written by the wise Guru Sri.Narayana of backward classes in Kerala. The song had great message for all people saying “This is a model in which all persons live as brothers and sisters, unaffected by the difference of caste and the enmities of religion.” Shri. Narayana Guru was his role model. I was very influencd by his words. Shri followed. Narayana Guru”s words of life that are “one caste, one religion and one God for all human beings.”
Dr. Yesudas is happily married to Prabha for more than 30 years. They have three sons, Vinod, Vijay and Vishal. The second son Vijay Yesudas to, is a budding musician. The family is currently settled in Madras, India and visit Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA and again for business.
